Why is it that people throw URL’s (half of which are wikipedia or some other non-reputable source) around and preach to others how stupid they are for not believing in some “information fad?” If I can’t stand up and state “You are wrong” without a million drones saying “Wikipedia says YOU are wrong and Wikipedia is never wrong (insert derogatory comment here)” then why bother with freedom of speech; for I do not have freedom of thought.

Furthermore, for all the effort these people take to preach, they take little to no effort to actually help. (P.S. Recycling is BAD, most Waste Management services automatically separate recyclables from non-recycleables by law… only thing putting stuff in the blue box does is reduce jobs [which hurts the economy… chew on THAT :P)

When the truck comes to pick up my recycling it looks just like a garbage truck. My husband says that it all goes to the same place & that he knew guys who worked for Waste Management who said it all gets dumped in the dump. So how do I know that all the recyclables that I so painstakingly separate, actually make a difference for the planet?

I recycle because I want to do anything I can to reduce waste that winds up in a landfill. I have been under the impression all these years that recycling is beneficial for the environment. But I recently learned that, at least in California, we ship our compacted recyclables to China to be made into new products which are then shipped back to the USA. I’m curious about the “life cycle” of a recycled product and the recycling industry’s impact on the environment. Also, are China’s recycling methods and chemicals ok under USA or EU regulations? Economists encouraged to weigh in. Thanks.

i moved to the middle of no where a while back and now i live about 40 miles from the nearest recycling center and would like to do my part to help the environment, but any good i would do by recycling would be out done by the gas i would use to get my recyclables to the center!

Here in Houston, TX, they’re talking about becoming greener, but so far I’ve heard nothing about more recycling programs for people in apartments and also several subdivisions. The nearest facility to my apartment to take almost all recyclables is pretty far away, and I know my friends would recycle better if they had a more convenient way to do so. Any thoughts?
